If you've been reading my blog here for a while, you'll remember that I've been pining to return to Italy. Yes, two years ago right now I was having the time of my life as I was avoiding the season of SAD. But as fall is upon us and our blue skies are becoming more and more rare, you'll understand why I long for the beautiful azure skies and cosy warmth of autumn in this Mediterranean country. Here are two photos contrasting the sky over Steveston (above), a fishing village about 20 minutes from my place, and the sky over Sicily (below) - same time of year. I think they are both gorgeous shots in their different ways.

These pictures make me think of the world today. In the first you can be surrounded by life and events, in the other the peace and quiet we need, to balance it all out.
Both are lovely pictures.Thank you for sharing them.
great contrast, both lovely photos...

Boo! Did I scare you? You have a Halloween Treat at my blog for Friday...if you'd like, stop by and scroll down.
I like both photos, Leslie. I'm so sorry winter makes you feel down.
Both beautiful images but I can understand the longing for those brilliant blues.
nice contrast between two shots. we all get to experience both of those.
And today here I am in Southern California wishing to be where the skies are like yours :0)
We are in the upper 90's today, it's just not right...
I'm ready for a trip across the pond, too.
What a great variety in photos. Sorry to hear that the winter drags you know, but I can relate to what you are talking about. The summers fly and the winters drag.
Lovely photos! I really like the 2nd one.
They are both beautiful photos. Italy is certainly beautiful but I love Canada, too. Thank you for sharing your lovely photos. Have a wonderful weekend.
Incredible good photoes. I like the last one best:)
Both are very good photos... the second one is amazing.. the rolling green hills, ah... such serenity in that, hey?
Very nice indeed!
I hope all goes well now that the winter seems to creep along us... I know so many that suffer the SAD. It's a terrible thing to have to go through and my heart goes out to you...

Nice to see all the boats, even under an autumn sky - I visited Steveston once many years ago, love the West coast.
Beautiful reflection.
Great pictures Leslie, both very beautiful skies. My son and his fiance will be honeymooning in Italy next June. I would love to go myself one day, as I have never been there.
What a super idea to contrast these two so different shots taken at the same time of year. I am glad for the cahnging seasons, there is something comforting about battening down the hatches, drawing the curtains against the elements, and lighting a warm, comforting fire.
Yes, like you, I do pine for the sunshine (I need my sunbed in the winter months) we have been beset by hurricanes and storms over the past couple of weeks, but when I picked my hubby up from the airport after a couple of weeks in Dubai, he was thrilled t walk out into the eye of the storm!
Both beautiful photos, sky watch friday is a great way to mark the change of seasons and celebrate the best of all of them.
Thanks for sharing your view of the sky with us all.
Hmmm. I know which one I would choose if a choice were possible. No wonder you are pining!
I agree that gray skies can be a downer, and yet I enjoy the seasonal changes we have here in the Pacific northwest. But my daughter moved to Colorado because of SAD.

Beautiful contrast in pictures.
Lovely photos, Leslie!
These shots are great! Thanks for sharing!
