Last week, I was longing to be back in Italy where I toured for a month back in the fall of 2006. So I posted a photo for Skywatch Friday of an area in Tuscany that was so beautiful and scenic. In keeping with my desire to be back in Italy, I thought I'd post this shot, taken in Sovana on a blistering hot day. After wandering around the town, I headed back to the parking area, hoping that everyone else would hurry up so we could get into the air-conditioned car. As I was waiting, I noticed the back of this brick house, so I hopped up onto the concrete ledge beside the car and took the shot. When I uploaded it, I noticed all the shadow effects so changed it to black and white to see how it would look. I like it much better than in the original colour. Hope you like it, too.

You were right - it does make a really good B&W.
Yes that is a hang-glider. I was able to give the pilot a copy of this picture.
Yes, it's an excellent shot. Unmistakably Italian, too. Who needs colour?!!

No colour needed. It so sparlkling an image just fizzing of Italy.
It is very alike. it is very fun well done
Shadow effects always add such character to old buildings! Lovely shot!
The black and white highlights the beautiful texturing on the brick and roof. Lovely!

Red usually converts nicely to black & white. Like it did here!
Perfect in black & white.
That's beautiful. It makes an excellent black and white shot.

Excellent black and white photo. I bet it looked good in color too.

Cypress! that's an essential detail-frame on an Italian picture!
Well done. B&W gives a peaceful effect.

The shadows do make this photos, just right.
(I didn't post today - I ran out of time)
Hi, Leslie!
Beautiful photo, with dramatic shades. It's like an art lesson about shadows I had at school.
Kisses from Nydia.
What a beautiful photo, wish I could get on the plane to Italy tomorrow!
