When I was in England, November of 2006, my friends took me for drives along a lot of back country roads. It was wonderful to see off-the-beaten-track views and the "real" England. On the way to one village, John stopped to consult his map and as he checked it over, I snapped this shot of a solitary tree. I liked how it looked so stark against the cool autumn sky and that there was just a touch of blue peeking through. I played with the original photo and decided to solarize it - I like how it looks not too far from the original but just has some subtle differences. Click to enlarge.

It looks as if it belongs in a Grimm Bros. fairy tale .. I expect to see the ogre emerge from behind it momentarily.

Dark and stark. Cool choice. That enlarged image was great.
I love playing with the simple edits sometimes. They can create such amazing imagery.
And Daryl - you are right on with the ogre comment. And we're not talking about Shrek here, lol.
Good choice.

It looks creepy like something from "Sleep Hollow"

Looks like you added a different sky to it, neat effect. :)
Wow nice effects Leslie! Thank you for your Creative Photography submission!
I'm with Daryl: where are the trolls, ogres and gnomes?
Cool photo. Actually quite spooky.
Good luck in Roger's contest
Very cool and spooky. All it needs is a witch flying by on a broom stick... But I think it's also beautiful.
Marvelous shot! Posterizing always makes a photo more interesting! :) Good luck in the contest!
Wow...this is a great shot with a lot of personality. Love it.
Wow Leslie! This is an AWESOME image! I LOVE it!!
THIS picture is really fantastic! I love it, it just seems to have so much to say.
Good luck in this week's contest!
super photo, what exactly does solarizing mean? I am a total novice when it comes to photography.....

Oh, like this photo....spoooky.
Thanks for visiting my huge dragonfly today!
This tree looks so much like the mean trees that were grabbing at poor Snow White in her escape from the evil queen...
This tree has an eerie yet engaging look about it. I'm not sure why...
I was stunned when I enlarged it! The detail is breathtaking.
I love spooky and ominous mixed with serene and beautiful.
Hi Leslie,
It looks like it is covered in ice to me. Very erie, but beautiful. Great photo!

Flashback of Harry Potter seem to have entered my mind when I view this picture. A sense of spook effect has been created.
