Although it's sunny and warm right now and officially autumn, the light seems to be at a different slant. I'm already feeling a bit sorrowful at the loss of summer. I'm also starting to get that hibernation feeling. I just want to curl up in cosy flannel with warm socks on my feet, drink hot cocoa, and go to sleep. I get that feeling every year at this time and have to fight it very hard. SAD (seasonal affective disorder) is very common where I live because of the lack of sunlight throughout the fall and winter. So today I'm posting a photo of part of the farm at Campbell Valley Regional Park that I visited in July. The photo takes me back to that day when it was so hot I relished time in the shade of the huge evergreen and deciduous trees that bordered the farm. I recall sitting on a park-type bench under one tree and taking in the moment. There were soft fluffy clouds above, moving and shifting slowly in the calm breeze. I thought I saw a shape in the smaller cloud that hovered above the roof of the farmhouse. What does it look like to you?

This shot looks like it should be in a book of fairy tales. I think Peter Rabbit might feel very comfortable in the photo.
I hear taking vitamin D for SAD is often helpful. ;-)
You might laugh but I think curling up in a comfy chair with a good book and a cup of cocoa is pretty close to Heaven.
Love this landscape!
The sky and that red building, and....well framed shot.
It is such a romantic picture! Beautiful, Leslie!
Thanks for visiting!
I think it looks like a llama. Great shot and I want to live in that farm.
i dont really know enough about seasonal affective disorder - i'm glad i can enjoy sunshine when i want it
A beautiful scene. Thanks for nudging me - I would have hated to miss this. It made me smile. :)
Though I always believed myself to have a good imagination, I don't usually identify cloud shapes.
Is there anything you can do to compensate for the loss of sunlight? Whether artificial sunlight or, I don't know... anything?
Flanel and warm socks... good.
Hot cocoa... good.
Sleep... Very Good!
Hey, I like the light in this photo!
What a beautiful place. I love this photo... the layout is wonderful. You captured the essence of the place, and it just makes me want to be there. (I'm ignoring what you said about how hot it was. It doesn't look unbearably hot. Just happy.)
beautiful...peaceful...wish I was there!
I see a kitty cat in the clouds :)
hey! I was just doing a passage with my kids on SAD the other day! Nice farm house and b/w shots below!
Fantastic country shot, thanks for sharing
Cheers

Such a picturesque farm!!
I love you photo, it looks such a nice spot and I would keep looking at it as you are going into winter. I dont like winter much either.
Hope you have a good weekend and thanks for visiting my blog.
I really enjoyed looking around your blog.

We are definitely in that between-the-seasons state--summer heat lingers, yet the light fades. So strange and bittersweet. I hope you enjoy the light while it lasts! God bless.
What a pretty countryside! The light is surely changing, but I welcome the cooler weather and bright blue skies here. Winter is our "down" time.
Very pretty shot my dear....
Mine is here
This post look like to me a marvelous picture, a wonderful landscape!
Colors and view fantastic!
Thanks for visiting my blog!

Wonderful landscape with fine pastel colours. I enjoy it a lot.
Happy Sky Watch!
The place looks very serene... Beautiful shot!
A beautiful shot. I see a bunny in the clouds!:)
Beautiful photo, it has all that idealcountry feeling.
Nice capture and beautiful scene.
Great photo. It has everything. Great capture and well framed. At first glance, I thought it was a painting of an idyllic pastoral scene.
Print it, frame it, and hang it on the wall.
Thanks for the visit,
Troy and Martha
Pretty picture indeed, but it sounds rather hot...
I can see Beatrix Potter coming out of there. SAD affects so many people now, especially after such a poor summer. Lovely scene.
lovely quaint farm Reminds me of home :)
Beautiful picture!

Lovely photo of a delightful scene.
Autumn and winter when there are few daylight hours and they can be drastically reduced by thick fog or clouds need not be depressive.
There is an easy cure. Install one really bright light like an arc light and sit under it as you read or whatever for a few hours a day. It is amazing how it wakes you up and cheers your spirits. I've cured depression in that light.
Very beautiful picture. Very romantic. From another time.
I do get depressed when I need to get up in the pitch black and use the headlights to drive my brood to their stop.. but I have found a way around this "SAD" business (which I am sure is far more detrimental to my health, but hey - it sure makes me FEEL better), I have a sunbed, I don't over-do it, just a couple of minutes a day, barely noticable on the tan scale of things, it feeds me my daily dose of sunlight and I swear it lifts my spirits!
Ps. I love the photo.
We are beginning to get a touch of fall here, too - though we don't have the big change in seasons you have there. "Louis" turned the heater on the other morning in the Vachmobile for the first time in months when he left Chez la Vache to go to work.
Very nice photo, Leslie!
Looks like a lovely place, I can see a cat in the cloud.
Oh, I so wish i could step into this photo...it is wonderful.
